Belinda Martens Kjærulf
My practice is deeply rooted in he abundance of nature. Growing up surrounded by forest, I became attuned not only to the quietness of these landscapes, but also to their richness, like textures, colour, and the call of the fauna. This duality continues to shape how I experience and translate the world in my work. I invite the viewer into a more intimate encounter with the subject, where they can almost smell, taste, and feel what they are seeing.
Biodiversity is an important thread within my work. I am particularly drawn to wild landscapes and meadows, which I depict as spaces of beauty - abundant and untamed. In celebrating wildness, I hope to challenge ideas of what is considered “beautiful” or “valuable” in nature, and to open up a space where chaos, imperfection, and diversity are recognised as essential.
Ultimately, my work is an invitation: to look longer, to feel more, and to reconsider our relationship with the natural world. Not as something to control, but as something we are inherently part of.
